F.A.Q.
Do I need reservations?
Reservations are advised to guarantee seating, and required for flag stops. They should be made at least 24 hours in advance. Walk-ons are welcome on a space-available basis.
Where do I purchase tickets?
You buy tickets from the bus driver or you may prepay by credit card when you book reservations by phone.
What are the differences in ticket types?
There are four ways to get a seat, with different levels of certainty.
| To get this type of ticket… | You do this… |
| Reserved Seat | Call us on the phone. We’ll check available seats, and take your credit card information to reserve a seat. Your card will be charged The day you make your reservation. The No-show/Late Cancellation/Late Changes fee is $20. |
| On-line Request for Reservation (for travel more than two days in the future.) |
Complete the on-line form. When we receive it, our office staff will check availability, and send you an e-mail confirming a reservation. Your card will be charged on the day before you travel. The No-show/Late Cancellation/Late Changes fee is $20. |
| Standby | Call us with your name and contact information. If seats are available at that time, you may pay the driver by cash or credit card. You will have priority over walk-ons. |
| Walk-on | Show up and take your chances. |
Are there seat belts and air conditioning?
Yes, we provide both for your safety and comfort.
Is the bus smoke- and alcohol-free?
Yes, but food and covered beverages are allowed.
What about restrooms?
Restroom breaks are taken at Madras Tiger Mart and Government Camp or Rhododendron.
Can I take an animal along?
Small dogs and cats (up to 15 lbs.) are allowed in a pet carrier. Certified service animals are always welcome.
How much luggage can I take?
Each passenger may take two bags and a carry-on. Bicycles boxed for air travel, bagged skis, snowboards, golf clubs, and other larger items are allowed, but subject to space availability and an extra $5 fee per item. Please make arrangements when booking reservations.
Does the shuttle arrive on time?
We do very well with the things we can control. However, adverse weather or road construction could cause delays.
Do you always travel?
We operate 362 days a year, as long as the road is open. There is no schedule on Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year’s Day.
Do you offer discounts?
Discounts are available for seniors, students, military and children traveling with an adult. See our Rates & Tickets page for complete details.
I’m 30, but I’m a student in College. Can I get a student discount?
Yes; if you have a valid student ID, you can qualify for a student discount from junior-high up to age 59. At age 60, you qualify for a senior discount (the same as the student rate, but you just have to show your wrinkles instead of your student ID.)
Do you take unaccompanied children?
Yes, if the child is mature enough to take care of himself/herself. The youngest successful age seems to be around eight years old. An adult must be at the receiving end to pick up the child. Drivers are instructed to maintain their schedules as a courtesy to other passengers, and children will not be left unattended.
